John Slegg
11G Madrid Blue Head Coach
13G Pride White Head Coach
John grew up in Surrey, England, played club soccer for South Godstone Football Club, and played collegiate soccer at University of Gloucestershire.
John loves watching the kids on his teams develop as soccer players, finding it really satisfying to teach them a new skill or tactical idea, and then see them practice it, and then execute it in a game. John likes trying to be a positive influence in his players’ lives, and hopes that during his practices he creates a positive, fun, and challenging learning environment for all of them. Being part of a team and working together to achieve a collective goal is also very satisfying for him.
John is inspired by his fellow MVLA coaches whom he sees as having a high level of dedication, passion, and focus to improving their players and teams. Their hardwork and dedication inspire John, and drive him to be the best coach he can be. John holds the following coaching licenses: F.A Coaching Badge NSCAA, Diploma NSCAA, Advanced National Diploma CYSA D National License, College Degree in Sports and Exercise Science, and the Positive Coach Alliance ‘Double Goal Coaching’ Award.
John’s favorite soccer memories involve traveling with his teams to many cool places and seeing them play in some really big tournaments at these destinations. He’s been lucky enough to travel to Hawaii, San Diego, Las Vegas, Florida, Washington, Idaho, and many more.
John’s favorite team is Tottenham Hotspur, and Harry Kane is his favorite player. In addition to playing soccer John also loves playing golf and taking his kids to the beach.
