Chris grew up in Boulder, Colorado and played club soccer for FC Boulder. Chris continued his soccer career playing collegiate soccer at Colorado Mountain College and then semi pro soccer for the Colorado Crimson.
Chris’s favorite soccer memory is winning the Colorado 5A State Championship for Boulder High School as a member of the coaching staff. What he will never forget is the love the players had for each other and the effort they were willing to give to win. Chris’s favorite part of coaching is watching his players grow and mature, both as soccer players and as humans. He also enjoys helping to create memories that last a lifetime.
Chris has a lot of stories of coaches who have inspired him, both as a player and as a coach, but what helped shape him into the coach he is today is Dion La Foucade. Dion (who has coached the Trinidad and Tobago U15 and U17 National teams in addition to coaching youth programs at Manchester United and Liverpool FC) mentored Chris for an entire season. He taught Chris to “speak life” – saying coaches are not here to break players down but to to build them up. Dion was also instrumental in teaching Chris to speak to the players in a detailed manner, never telling a player he or she had a good game but instead giving them details into why they had a good or bad game. Dion taught Chris to speak and train every player individually.
Chris has the following coaching licenses: USSF National E license, USSF National D license, NSCAA Special topics Diploma, Management of the game Real Madrid Foundation Certificate in Tactical and Technical Concepts.
Manchester United is Chris’s favorite team, and his all time favorite player is Zinedine Zidane. Fun fact: his nickname is actually Chris as Chris goes by his middle name. He has two dogs, a toddler-aged son and a baby girl on the way. Chris loves to ski and snowboard, and anything in nature makes him happy. He and his wife also love to hike and trail run.
