July

  • MVLA club registration opens
  • Financial Aid applications due
  • Practice begins for some teams (especially if participating in a late-summer tournament)

August

  • Fall season officially starts; weekly practices begin for all teams (early August)
  • Some teams participate in late summer tournaments
  • League games begin (late August)
  • State Cup games begin (for some teams in Preliminary Round)
  • Shooting Stars Fall Program (Pre-K, K and 1st Grade) begins

September

  • League games continue
  • State Cup games begin for most teams

October

  • League and State Cup games continue
  • Many MVLA teams participate in the MVLA Bay Area Fall Cup (last weekend)
  • MVLA’s Annual Team Halloween Costume Contest

November

  • League games continue
  • State Cup games end for U9-U10 age groups and continue for U11 & older
  • High school-aged teams (U15 and older) take a break until late February
  • With Daylight Savings Time ending, practice times (and fields) may shift for some teams
  • Shooting Stars Fall Program ends

December

  • Deadline to opt out of spring season (December 1)
  • Deadline for requesting Fall Volunteer Fee Reimbursement (December 1)
  • Tryouts for youngest age groups (new players to MVLA)
  • Some younger MVLA teams participate in the MVLA Bay Area Winter Cup (second weekend)
  • State Cup games end for U11-U13 Gold/Silver/Bronze age groups
  • End of fall season (usually second weekend in December); break for three weeks

January

  • Winter training begins early January (U14 and younger except for the In-house age group), 1-2 practices per week; winter training is considered part of our spring season
  • High school-aged teams (U15 and older) continue to be on break until late February
  • State Cup continues for U11-U13 State/Premier
  • Shooting Stars Winter Program begins

February

  • State Cup ends for U11-U13 State/Premier
  • Presidents’ Day Week break (no practices)
  • Spring season resumes; weekly practices begin after Presidents’ Day Week break
  • Newest age group (in-house) begins practices after Presidents’ Day Week break
  • High school-aged teams (U15 and older) resume practices after Presidents’ Day Week break
  • Shooting Stars Winter Program ends

March

  • League games begin (mid March)
  • State Cup games resume for U14 and older age groups (knockout phase)
  • Shooting Stars Spring Program begins

April

  • League games continue
  • State Cup games continue for U14 and older age groups (if qualify, knockout phase)
  • Many MVLA teams participate in the MVLA Bay Area Spring Cup (last weekend)
  • MVLA College Commitment Celebration (for players committed to collegiate soccer)

May

  • Open tryouts for all age groups (new players to MVLA)
  • Deposits due for next season for returning MVLA players
  • League games continue
  • State Cup games end for U14 and older age groups (if qualify, knockout phase)
  • MVLA Soccer Night (senior celebration, entire club welcome to attend)
  • Shooting Stars Spring Program ends

June

  • League games and spring season practices end (most teams, early June)
  • Deadline for requesting Spring Volunteer Fee Reimbursement (June 15)
  • ECNL or NPL teams that qualify for National Playoffs will continue into the summer months
